Our client are a well known construction manager and general contractor, operating across the fields of institutional, commercial, industrial and civil work construction. They are currently looking for a Site Superintendent to be based out of their Ottawa office. The Site Superintendent reports directly to the VP of Operations and works hand in hand with the Project Manager. They will be responsible for overall on-site leadership, management and direction of the construction projects assigned to them. They will enforce company and project policies to ensure the project is constructed safely in accordance to plans and specifications and within the promised budgets and timelines. Duties & Responsibilities: As a member of the Project Team, your role, duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following: * Assume charge of all on-site construction activities on a daily basis * Lead productivity and monitor work performance of employees and subcontractors to ensure projects plans and schedule are met * Report and share on-going project information on a daily basis with the other members of the Project Team * Contribute to the development of project plans, schedules and management of subcontractor activities * Ensure that the project is being constructed in compliance with the design and building code requirements * Ensure that workmanship and products supplied meets with company and industry quality standards * Implement and enforce Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and procedures * Document and report all injuries, incidents and accidents * Document and report all delays to project schedule of every nature and identify the cause and responsibility of the delay * Obtain signed "Change Orders" before proceeding with change in the work * Advise senior management of potential issues, work interference's and delays while assisting in circumventing/resolving such issues and mitigating costs/delays * Be responsible for the management, control and maintenance of all company owned or rented tools and equipment on the jobsite * Promote good working relationships with direct employees, subcontractors, consultants and Owners/Clients and ensure a high level of morale and motivation on site * Ensure that regular and annual preventative maintenance are performed on company vehicles made available for your use and that record of such maintenance is provided to the district office for recordkeeping * Lead regular job site and safety meetings with workers and subcontractors and keep record of such meetings/talks * Ensure that all actions of the company are accomplished in an ethical and prudent manner and in accordance with OSHA regulations * Perform weekly site safety inspections on assigned projects and provide records of such inspection to district office for recordkeeping and audit purposes * Ensure that all workers on site have the proper training records for the work being performed * Provided every new worker with site specific safety orientation including a general review of safety policy * Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Labor orders * Ensure incident investigations are completed in a timely fashion and actively participate in those investigations Experience Required: * Require five (5) or more years as a site superintendent or foreman position on water & wastewater construction/ renovation projects (ie. pumping station, water / waste treatment plants, odour control facilities, etc...) * Prefer Gold Seal Certification (GSC) designation * Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents. Educational Requirements: * High School graduate. * College or University degrees * Prefer P.
