    Multinational engineering firm based on the North Shore.

    Role Purpose

    Reporting to the Principal Traffic Engineer, the Traffic Engineer is responsible for the delivery of Traffic Engineering service which includes:

    • management of Traffic Committee
    • undertaking traffic investigations and studies
    • maintenance of traffic records and asset data
    • assessment of traffic applications and permits
    Key Responsibilities
    • Preparation of reports on parking and traffic related matters 
    • Investigate and report on traffic and parking related matters and make recommendations.
    • Monitor and evaluate existing traffic management schemes.
    • Attend committee and/or public consultation meetings as required
    • Participate in the development and implementation of traffic management and road safety plans.
    • Provide traffic input to all road improvement projects and major developments.
    • Advise developers on traffic related matters and assist the manager as required in providing traffic engineering comment on DA's referred to the traffic section for input.
    • Collect and analyse data for traffic related matters 
    • Prepare and issue works instructions as necessary for all traffic sign and markings.
    • Prepare concept designs and document traffic facility proposals for single site and area traffic studies as necessary 
    • Monitor, review and advise on all Parking Permit Schemes and ensure parking signage is appropriate and give appropriate advice in regard to parking management issues to staff and the public.
    • Assess Road Closure, Work Zones, Standing Plant and other TMP's, and TCP's and arrange for issuing of permits as required.
    • Investigate and respond to street-lighting enquiries and arrange for preparation of street-lighting improvement plans where required.
    • Prepare and implement public consultation programs for Traffic projects.
    • Establish and maintain close working relationships with appropriate external organisations such as Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), State Transit Authority (STA) and NSW Police.
    • Engage and/or lead car parking demand studies and projects.
    • Mentor and upskill Traffic Officers
    CRITERIA

    Educational & Experience Requirements
    • Degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate traffic related tertiary qualification.
    • Demonstrated experience to be a self-starter, be able to set priorities, prepare timetables, work schedules and maximise output whilst ensuring high quality outcomes.
    • Demonstrated experience in resolving issues through discussion and negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Be adaptable to change, innovative and highly motivated.
    • Demonstrated high level of computer skills and experience in the use of CAD software.
